LOCAL EVENTS: BANDITS SF4 ACTION

banditsOn every 1st Sunday of the month (tomorrow November 1st) Masando aka MasaZama throws a casual Street Fighter 4 session at Bandits on 1st and Denny.  The session begins at 8pm where 2 setups will be up and running until Bandits closes at 2am.  “The event is casual with a possibility of tournament play in the near future” says Masando.  With this event being at a bar attendee’s must be 21 or over.  With that, this is a completely free event but be sure to grab a drink or some of their highly revered queso in order to give back a little.  So come on down to Bandits and join the fun!  Hope to see ya there!

TOURNAMENT MENTALITY: COMPOSURE

Tournament Bracket changed

Tournament mentality is something that I talk about constantly within the fighting game scene.  Knowing how to survive in the tournament world can get really difficult and it can be very vicious at times.  In the article I talk about tournament anxiety, composure and “pre tournament” rituals.  I plan to come out with the 2nd part of the article sometime next week.  It’s a fairly long read but I think if you stick through to the very end you’ll find yourself really appreciating it.  Drop me a line and tell me what you think!

SEATTLEVERSUS UPDATE

ryu-2Happy Halloween everybody! As you guys might have seen I haven’t been too on top of updates within the past couple days. Other then the Super 4 official blog announcing they’ll have “a big announcement next Friday” not much has really been happening and news has been a bit stagnate. November is finally here and I’m excited to say that we’re kicking off big. So all in all, sorry for the lack of updates but just letting you all know that we’re still running strong!

SUPER STREET FIGHTER 4 DEVELOPERS TALK JURI

28_devblog03Ever since the announcement of Super 4, Juri has been all the rage.  I’ve seen a lot of talk about people wanting to pick her up (in and out of the Northwest forums) due to how different she looks.  However with the footage that we’ve seen so far, we can only speculate so much…details about Juri have been kinda sparse.  Fortunately Capcom’s official Super Street Fighter 4 Blog just released a juicy interview about everything you possibly wanted to know about her.  Jigsaw has fully translated the article for your viewing pleasure and can be found here at eventhubs.  The blog goes over aspects like character design, details about her moveset, character personality to even complexity as a character in Super 4.  All in all the read is pretty long but it’s definitely worth checking out.

NORTH CALIFORNIA REGIONALS

regionalsThe highly revered NorCal Regionals makes it’s come back this year taking place at the Domain Hotel in Sunnyvale California.  The 2 day event (beginning on November 21st ending November 22nd) will be sure to pull in top players from all over the country.  For those that don’t know, Jeff (aka DrDoomKills) and I both have plans to head down and see where we stand!  NCR will be sure to bring in top level play so we definitely have our work cut out for us.  For general information head over to the official NorCal Regional website for more info.

SEATTLEVERSUS: NEW FEATURES

versuslogoAlong with the website becoming a bit more clean and organized, we’ve also implemented a few other features: a weekly poll, a nice Halloween themed logo for a bit and lastly an Event Calendar.  The event calendar is my personal favorite and I’m thrilled to announce it to people.  As you’ll notice on the right side bar below the scroll bar, you’ll notice a button called labelled “Event Calendar.”  The event calendar will act as a place to showcase events that are happening within the scene…Local sessions or tournaments, release dates or other huge events going on in the scene you’ll find it all the info on the event calendar.  So peep out the calendar, check out the poll and leave a comment and let us know what you think!

TEKKEN 6 NATION WIDE TOURNAMENT!

tekken_6_by_kowanA lot of Tekken players are really hype with the Tekken 6 release being just 6 hours away.  To add to the hype Gamestop is teaming up with Namco in order to hold the “King of the Iron Fist Tournament,” a tournament held at local gamestops on the 31st of October (Halloween).  This event is looking very similar to the Street Fighter 4 National Tournament that Capcom and Gamestop collobarated on, however details for the King of the Iron Fist Tournament have been kind of spotty…not too sure what exactly this event will bring in the future.  Tournament locations will be held at most Gamestop/EB Games store fronts including Bellevue Square, Everett Mall, Alderwood Plaza and Westlake Center to name a few.  From what I understand, winners of each respective tournament will be prized 2 Tekken T-shirts and a Tekken Trading Card.  The prizes may not be the best, however it’s great to see a huge event out of fighting game release!  For more info on the tournament concerning official rules and locations check out the official website.

With Tekken 6 Bloodline Rebellion’s release rapidly approaching, we here at Seattle Versus felt it was necessary to shed some light on the game’s release. The game will be hitting stores on October 27th with select locations doing midnight releases. Tacoma and Kirkland Play N Trades being a couple of the stores that are having midnight releases. Select Gamestops will also be having midnight releases as well, so be sure to call your local Gamestop if you’re interested.
