A CALL TO ARTISTS: BLOODY-KNUCKLES

Bloody Knuckles

Bloody-Knuckles is a showcase that will display artwork inspired by the fighting game community in hopes of one major goal: To expose the world of art to fighting games, while at the same time expanding the fighting game community to the world of art.  Their tag line being: “Bloody-Knuckles, artwork inspired by the fighting game community in the Pacific Northwest.”  The event will be held at The Canoe Social Club at Theatre off Jackson during the month of February, officially opening on February 4th.

Currently, Bloody-Knuckles is accepting submissions from artists that are in anyway influenced by fighting games.  The deadline for these submissions will be on December 1st. What this means is that by December 1st, David (aka HappyStickPerson, the man who is running Bloody-Knuckles) will need to see digital images of the artwork that you would like to submit.  The submissions will then be reviewed by the gallery director, and shortly after the artists selected to show will be contacted.

Types of Work:
• Traditional 2D/3D works inspired by fighting games or the fighting game community
• Digital 2D/3D works inspired by fighting games or the fighting game community
• 3D sculpture (example: custom arcade sticks)
• Film makers, traditional or digital

Submission Process: The submissions should be emailed to happystickperson@gmail.com no later than December 1st. Be sure to include your own contact information, including mailing address, phone number and email.  With that, an artist statement and bio is requested as well as 5 to 10 digital images of the submission.

I’d also like to point out that the Bloody-Knuckles main event is scheduled on the 28th of February, where the finals for Tournament Wars will be held at the gallery. I personally am incredibly excited about this event.  While not being an artist or even remotely into art, I really think that this event is great for the fighting game community as a whole.  Bloody-Knuckles takes fighting games into an entirely different expression that surpasses being passionate about fighting games.  This event will be amazing and I encourage you all to try to make it out or even submit something!  Remember, the deadline for submissions will be on December 1st so act fast!

For more information, check out the official Bloody-Knuckles website. Also you can check out the Bloody-Knuckles thread for other details.  If you have any other questions, feel free to contact David at happystickperson@gmail.com any time.

You should drop the Stranger and Seattle Weekly a line about this, if you haven’t already.

Could we get this on Shoryuken homepage and Capcom-Unity? I don’t know how we’d do that but it’d be legit if we did.
