WEEKEND TOURNAMENT UPDATE

Ryan Hart

It’s been a very long and eventful weekend in the Street Fighter world.  Over the weekend a few large tournaments were thrown in New York, Montreal, California and even Sweden!  In Sweden, the “Dream Hack Winter” event was thrown, a massive E-sport event featuring numerous games like Counter Strike, Star Craft, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, Tekken 6 and Street Fighter 4.  Aside from the huge Dream Hack event, California’s Denjin Arcade ranbat season continued as did New York’s weekly tournament, this timed named “Path of the digital warrior.”  Here are the results

11/28 Denjin Arcade Ranbat 2.2(48 entrants):

1.) ComboJack (SA)
2.) Bryant the Tyrant (BA)
3.) Mike Ross (HO)
4.) Art aka DT1 (HO)
5.) Ironfist (SA)
5.) Ken I (GO)
7.) Koryuu (VE)
7.) OnlineTony (KE, EF, AB)

NetChamp Battle Arena Tournament Montreal (62 entrants):

1.) Chi-Rithy
2.) Rameo
3.) Prez
4.) Boss
5.) Snafoo
5.) Harmoni
7.) Trini
7.) Heero

Not too much said about this tournament in Montreal, however with a whopping 62 entrants, it was definitely a pretty big event for them.  Apparently Henri, AKA “Chi-Rithy” is the pretty decisive top seed over there in Montreal who wins the majority of tournaments.  Unfortunately, character use wasn’t displayed, sorry for the inconvenience.  Anyways, I look forward to seeing more from the Montreal scene!

Dream Hack Winter 09 (32 entrants):

1.) Ryan “Prodigal Son” Hart (United Kingdom)
2.) Xian (Singapore)
3.) Yagami (Sweden)
4.) Zak “the Beastman” Bennet (United Kingdom)
5.) Gootecks (United States)
5.) Demulant (Germany)
7.) Skatan Milla (Sweden)
7.) Sh1nd (?)

It was none other than UK’s very own Ryan Hart who took first place in the SF4 event, claiming 30,000 SEK’s ($4,300 in USD) in prize money.  Earlier at Evo this year, Ryan Hart was one of the two people who were successful in taking down Daigo Umehara in money match sets.  All in all, Ryan Hart is no joke.  Check out the final set!

New York’s “Path of the digital warrior” kicked off also on Sunday, however results for the tournament haven’t been posted.  Aside from that, this wraps it up for the weekend’s biggest tournaments!  I’ll edit the post when results come in from NY’s tournament.

I actually watched Ryan Hart’s money match against Daigo at evo he’s a really solid player. And on top of that he’s a really nice dude. He had a convo with Mor about tall people blocking short people’s view’s than offered to get her a chair. lol
